Alma Sofia Esperanza José Pura Candela believes she has too many names: six! How did such a small person wind up with such a large name? Then, Alma learns about Sofia, the grandmother who loved books and flowers; Esperanza, the great-grandmother who longed to travel; José, the grandfather who was an artist; and other namesakes too. 

This Caldecott Honor story by Juana Martinez-Neal teaches children to be proud of their names and their stories. Through bilingual book-to-song adaptations and interactive activities with the author, children will explore their heritage and share their own stories.
